A self-catering cottage apartment with large conservatory occupies the ground floor of the left wing in a traditionally built Coach House, set in a secluded location with the Alt Girnaig (stream) and its waterfalls all adding to the atmosphere. In the oak wood at the back of Squirrel Cottage, you will often see red squirrels, pheasants, wood pigeons, buzzards and the occasional Roe deer. The large conservatory at the front of the Squirrel Cottage over looking the garden is surrounded by mature deciduous trees. Peeping out from above the treetops is ‘Sgurr Clann Dhonachie’ Robertson Heights, also a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Sanctuary with a good way marked trail, from which one can get magnificent views of the area. The Robertson’s are the principle clan of the area. Squirrel Cottage is set in a secluded location in the small Highland village of Killiecrankie in Highland Perthshire, 3 miles equidistant between the villages of Pitlochry and Blair Atholl. It is the geographic centre of Scotland, ideal for the immediate area and day trips to other areas of Scotland. The A9 is 2 miles away. The National Trust Visitor Centre and the Pass of Killiecrankie are a short walk away. It was here that the first shots of the 1689 Jacobite Battle of Killiecrankie were fired. The spacious non-smoking self-catering cottage apartment has recently been modernised throughout. Sleeps two with a choice of twin or double beds. Perfect for those looking for a quiet holiday within easy reach of the busy Highland Perthshire town of Pitlochry. Not suitable for small children (under 16 years) or pets.
