Set in the rolling foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains, the 200-year old Colquhonnie Hotel overlooks the Aberdeenshire Don valley from a South-facing, elevated site. The Hotel shares this lovely viewpoint with the Sixteenth century ruins of the unfinished, Colquhonnie Castle and the Historic Lonach Hall, home of ‘The Lonach Highlanders’
The hotel has been refurbished by new owners, John and Sally Wright and offers excellent value for money with 7 en-suite rooms and a family suite of two rooms sharing their own private bathroom. Enjoy a drink in the wood-lined snug bar with log fire, or relax in the lounge overlooking the glen. There you can cast your eye over the menu before your meal in our spacious dining room, where we use the best local produce, freshly prepared and complemented by our carefully chosen wine-list. For those guests with young children, we have a variety of indoor/outdoor toys and can provide them with an early evening meal, which certainly goes down well after an energetic day!
Our friendly and attentive staff have one aim, to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. During the day you have a wealth of pursuits on your doorstep to keep everyone entertained. Many guests come again and again from all over Europe to fish on eight miles of acclaimed trout water, (with more than the odd salmon), which we can arrange for as little as £10/Day. If fishing is not for you, there are a variety of walks or hikes for all abilities and miles of mountain-biking trails. You can also visit art galleries, country houses, historic castles, Scotch whisky distilleries, golf courses and more, –all within a half hours’ drive. In winter, why not try a spot of skiing? We are twenty minutes drive from ‘The Lecht’, whilst the slopes of Glenshee and Aviemore are accessible in just over an hour.
