Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre is one of the longest established outdoor education centres in the country, operating for over 30 years. The Centre has highly qualified, professional staff and is able to offer first class, action-packed multi-activity residential breaks for individuals and groups. Activities include canoeing, rock climbing and abseiling, archery, hill walking, kayaking, orienteering. Expeditions by sea kayak or on foot through spectacular highland scenery are also on offer. Study tours of 5-day or weekend duration led by a professional archaeologist looking at the well-preserved archaeological remains of the middles ages in the Scottish Borders: ruined abbeys, monastic farms, the farms and fields of the ordinary people, tower houses and the sites of timber castles.

Small groups of 6 - 15. The tours are suited to people of all ages who are reasonably fit.

Most of the sites are very accessible some demand a little modest exertion though none are more than a half hour walk.

Evening lectures will set the sites into context: no previous knowledge of Scottish history and archaeology is required. More Information


Caledonian Discovery offers a unique activity holiday on a large and very comfortable barge cruising Scottish Highland waterways. The barge, 'Fingal of Caledonia' moves each day to a new location and guests can just relax aboard and enjoy the spectacular scenery or take part in a wide variety of activities. Our own activities, which are included in the price, include walking, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, mountain biking and orienteering. April - mid-October: multi-activities on scenic Loch Insh of sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, river trips, rowing, salmon & trout fishing, dry ski slope skiing, archery, mountain biking and hill walking. Hire and/or instruction by the hour, day or week.

December - April: downhill skiing hire and/or instruction. Just 16 miles from Cairngorm slopes. 60m artificial ski slope and rope tows on site.

Sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, climbing, abseiling, archery, mountain bike hire. Multi-activity programmes or specialist courses for families, adults, unaccompanied children, schools, youth groups. Teambuilding, competitions and corporate events.

A few minutes' walk from Raasay House is the Home Loch, where kayaking skills can be learned and practised, later to be put to use on the sea, while Churchton Bay is the perfect place for novice or expert in windsurfing, sailing and kayaking. Various dinghies are used to teach sailing skills or to refine existing ability.

Raasay has numerous sea cliffs, crags and boulders to climb single-pitch and multi-pitch routes. More Information
